Eastern Europe hosts the ETN Annual Meeting 2018

May 2018 Eastern Europe hosts the ETN Annual Meeting 2018

This year the ETN Annual has been organised as a Regional meeting, involving all Eastern Members and top representatives from their National Customs Authorities.  From the great cities in the region, Belgrade was selected to welcome all ETN guests.

Eastern Europe is an important cargo corridor for the whole region; its countries are making significant efforts to align with core EU rules along time, and all parties deploy innovative systems to streamline eCustoms operations and ultimately facilitate trade.

The ETN Annual Meeting is the yearly platform for EurTradeNet members to actively engage in discussions on European Customs, and to be informed about the latest IT&C developments internationally. EurTradeNet made its 15th Anniversary this year, and the Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade was a great location to join an Eastern panoply of expertise, to have relevant speakers presenting Customs-related conventions, and to focus on core areas of common interest.

Thanks to the co-support of Eastern ETNers: CNS + Celní Software + NZ Servis jointly as ETN Czech Republic, SKG from Poland, Elsped from Serbia, and TRINET from Slovenia … Up to 50 delegates from EurTradeNet, plus six Eastern countries highly represented by the Director General and/or the IT&C Director of their National Customs. Very importantly, this ETN Annual 2018 counted with a unique collaborator: the very prestigious (and really pragmatic) EU Customs expert Frank Janssens.

Last but not least, the Slovenian Post acted as silver supporter, and their International Director Marjan Osvald thoroughly explained the successful collaboration project with Slovenian Customs. And two Eastern European IT companies were bronze sponsors and presented their secure communications (SoftNet) and BlockChain-based solutions in international trade (Cargo X).

On the second day, professional discussions around five core topics were conducted, with expert presentations and joint dialogue:

  • AEO (trade facilitation and EU options to certify IT&C providers).
  • Brexit (alternative schemes and needed transitions).
  • ICS-2 (multiple-filling via a central repository and harmonised trader interfaces).
  • Single Window (ETN internal analysis on European SW projects).
  • UCC (National priorities and realities EU-wide, variations on IT&C planning).

EurTradeNet yearly events are specially focused on enhancing existing knowledge and adding value for ETN executives and specialists. Mission accomplished one more year: members satisfied with Annual contents and international networking; candidates further convinced on EurTradeNet value-proposition to also adhere; and an Action Plan agreed to do more and even better, our never-ending aim.

The EurTradeNet – ETN Association keeps growing and is in constant search for complementary expertise to add to its unique professional network. Please see our current ETN knowledge map.
