First NewAssoc General Assembly at the Herbert Park

Jun 2014 First NewAssoc General Assembly at the Herbert Park

The very first Annual Meeting of EurTradeNet-ETN under its new legal form –International Non-Profit Professional Association– was hosted in Ireland, with the kind support of the founding ETNer Customs Matters. All ETN members were top management represented, welcoming new relevant CRSPs, actively listening to internal and external experts, and jointly deciding on core direction and workforces of the renewed EurTradeNet.

At the ETN 2013 General Assembly in Lyon an unanimous decision was taken: to transform EurTradeNet into the most appropriate legal form to professionally represent the CRSP community, retaining all previous ETN partners and members for the new entity, and gathering the attention of other relevant candidates. Mission accomplished: by January 2014 EurTradeNet-ETN became an International Non-Profit Professional Association, all ETNers promptly adhered to the NewAssoc, and new leading CRSPs joined in the ETN Annual Meeting 2014.

But this ETN Annual was not right to celebrate the New Era of EurTradeNet; it was configured as a multi-entity dialogue among key actors of the foreign trade value chain to discuss on common problems and complementary solution-making points of view. Summing up a total of 40 attendants, top directors and eCustoms specialists of the CRSPs shared two intensive days with the Irish Customs&Revenue Authorities; but also directly with DG TAXUD, the European Federation of freight forwarders CLECAT, and the International airlines organisation IATA. The UK Association of Freight Software Suppliers AFSS, ETN Affiliate since February 2014, was also actively participating. Unfortunately, due to force majeure, the World Shipping Council had to cancel their expert representation in Dublin, but sent valuable position material on their maritime areas of concern.

Among other hot topics, the dialogue at this ETN Annual 2014 flew on UCC challenges and needed IT&C deployments, miss-matching of information from different sources and multiple data filling options, and ultimately Safety & Security initiatives in airfreight also influencing other transportation modes. Multi-agent understanding and professional cooperation is a must to meet the eCustoms challenges at the proper deadlines, and EurTradeNet is determined to prompt dialogue and stable collaboration… as in the Casablanca film: this is the (new) beginning of a beautiful friendship!

The EurTradeNet-ETN alliance keeps growing and is in constant search for complementary expertise to add to its unique professional network. Please see our current ETN knowledge map.
